Ruckus Roboticus is a local DJ chosen to be featured on MTV-U’s new artists show, The Freshmen. The show spotlights emerging artists on-air and online, with the chance for one of the videos to get an automatic add into rotation on the channel the following week. Fans can vote on these videos online, starting this morning (Monday, May 7), and votes will end on Friday at 2p EST.

The video being featured, “Take Me To A Disco”, was produced and directed by local film and video production company Seven / Seventy-Nine and choreographed by CCM Dance graduate, Karen Williamson-Kurelis.

Ruckus Roboticus is a mixture of funk, hip-hop and mischief. Using half turntable, half drum machine, Ruckus has continually amazed his audience with his colorful and imaginative world of sound. When Ruckus is not busy remixing the stars (Bloc Party, Lady Tigra, Vampire Weekend, Pase Rock), he is rocking on stage with Crystal Castles, RJD2, The Juan Maclean, Peanut Butter Wolf, Prince Paul, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Food, The Rub DJs, DJ Premier, Mitsu The Beats, and Mr. Lif.

Ruckus Roboticus has won “Best DJ Mix” awards from Rockstar Games, Scion, and Solid Steel Radio, and can be found tearing the roof off of your local dancehall, art gallery, fashion show, and house party with an electrifying live set.

“An incredible fusion of music that incorporates funk, hip-hop, and experimental electronica all in one — a unique sound that’s wildly vivid.” – NPR / The World Café

“Worth getting excited about… Puts him in league with the likes of Cut Chemist, Prince Paul and RJD2… fun, funky and cognitive.” – OkayPlayer.com

Check out Ruckus Roboticus at the UC DAAP Fashion Show on June 8th; information about the event can be found on the DAAP website.

The contest will start on Monday via MTVU.com. Go spread the word to all your friends so Ruckus Roboticus will receive a month of programming on MTV-U!
