Doz came from a single mother household whom spent long hours at work and spent evenings at school just to pay the bills. He comes from a very large family stretching from Ohio down to Mississippi. However he was mostly raised in Covington, KY. He lived with his mother in KY, along with younger brother of 4 years. His father, originally from MI, relocated to OH just before Doz was born.
During Doz’s youth, he would spend a lot of time with his family in Cincinnati, which played a major role of influencing him to become a hip hop artist. It all started when a cousin took Doz to his friend’s attic where they were recording verses on an old karaoke cassette/cd player. Although merely a child, this day would forever change his life.
Growing up, people didn’t understand Doz. He was the annoying child with too many questions, too many insights on the world that wasn’t going to get him anywhere. Realizing that very few cared, he eventually recognized his only outlet was writing. He would write about his reflection on life until he developed his talent of creating poetry. He recognized his talent at the young age of 8. Inspired by artists like Eminem, Pac, Biggie, Nas, and Master P, without knowing, these artist helped mold Doz into the lyricist he is today.
It is true that music can speak to the masses, it can speak to our souls either by creating passion or apathy. Doz has learned to channel his desire for truth and justice into a musical revolution for his fans.
