Jim Trace and the Makers formed in 2014 for a small festival gig in Anderson, Ohio. Singer-Songwriter Austin Reid collaborated with friends and fellow singer-songwriter Mark Szwejkowski, guitarist Payne Rankin, violinist Vanessa Gut, and also drummer Brendan O'Brien to put together a folk rock group. Austin and Payne dropped their guitars for a banjo and a mandolin respectively and they all immediately began to write new music in order to satisfy the new band's creative direction.
