Having been called a “wonderful composer” and “sophisticated player” as well as “one of the most unique guitar voices to emerge over the last decade”, Brandon Coleman is the Midwest’s foremost jazz guitarists.
Based out of Cincinnati, OH, Coleman regularly performs with his groups Brandon Coleman Quartet and Zvezda as well as Louisville-based prog-jazz outfit D’Arkestra and jazz saxophonist JD Allen.
Drawing his inspiration from his musical idols–which range from Shorter and Coltrane all the way to Zappa, Messiaen and Murail–Coleman composes and performs very cinematic and personal music which always has a story to tell the listener.
He has performed at many notable venues and festivals, including–but not limited to–The Blue Wisp Jazz Club, the first annual Loja Jazz Festival (2012) in Loja, Ecuador, the 2014 CBGB Festival in NYC, and the 2014 Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest.
2013 saw the release of his debut quartet album, Decisions. Met with great reviews and radio play,Decisions set the tone for the voice of the Brandon Coleman Quartet, an interactive and thematic quartet with roots firmly in the modern tradition of jazz music.
When he is not performing, Coleman produces, mixes and teaches music out of his home studio as well as for the preparatory department of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
