PUBLIC has gained notoriety through festivals like CMJ, Bunbury, and MPMF, in addition to supporting acts like WALK THE MOON, Twenty One Pilots, Neon Trees, American Authors, and Andy Grammar. PUBLIC also recently had a Daytrotter Session released. This local band is right on the verge of hitting it big – very big. Get hip to them if not already at MidPoint Music Festival on Sunday, September 27th at The Taft Ballroom at 9:45p. We chatted with the band prior to MPMF!
You guys are touring all over the place these days. How is life on the road?
It's been great! We've been doing short runs with everyone from We the Kings, to Misterwives over the last few months, so it's been a blast just meeting other artists and making new friends and fans.
How has it been hanging with Andy Grammar and American Authors?
We've had a good time. We haven't seen the American Authors boys since we played with them at Bunbury here in Cincinnati two years ago. A lot of times, you don't get much of a chance to really connect with other artists because of everyone's hectic schedules, so it's been good to have some hang time and not just be ships passing in the night. And Grammer and his crew were great as well - the musicianship in that group is nothing short of inspiring.
Tell us about the recording the Daytrotter Session?!
Daytrotter was a new experience for us for sure. We hadn't done much "in studio" session work with our tunes, so we got to really see what we're made of. On top of that, it was an honor to become a part of the Daytrotter roster like so many amazing artists before us.
What is next for PUBLIC?
There's a lot going on behind closed doors with the band right now. Aside from playing some great shows in new cities - PUBLIC has been back home, here in Cincy hard at work. We can't say much, but we can say you won't regret keeping your eye on us over the next few months.
