Old Monk Comes to MOTR

New York trio, Old Monk, are performing on Saturday, August 9th at MOTR in support of their sophomore album, Posing As Love, released last month on Eenie Meenie Records.  Old Monk spent 2013 writing and recording Posing As Love, releasing four singles, May through November, featured on the record, along with 8-bit videos created by singer/guitarist Joshua Carrafa, while performing in New York City regularly and touring the northeast.  Posing As Love refines Old Monk’s power-pop meets prog-rock sensibilities, creating a record that is both infectious and obtuse at the same time, much the same as love itself.

While the band looked to capture their raucous live performances on their 2012 debut album, Birds Of BelizePosing As Love was carefully crafted, delving deeper into their instrumentation, with drummer Ian Burns intricate time signatures, Carrafa's interwoven guitar parts and bassist Tsugumi Takashi driving it all forward, with frenetic madness.

Go catch Old Monk Saturday at MOTR with Little Lights!
