Fans heading down to MidPoint Music Festival this month will discover a vibrant street fair along 12th Street in Over-the-Rhine. The MidPoint Midway will offer food, interactive fun and music from 5 p.m. to midnight, September 25–27, 2014.

MidPoint Midway is organized in partnership by MidPoint and ArtWorks. And thanks to sponsorship from P&G, the block between Vine and Walnut Streets will offer free music throughout the duration of the festival. Along with music, food trucks, and vendors, there is a major art and activities component to the Midway.
ArtWorks officially launches a citywide celebration of love for Cincinnati called CincyInk. Through a range of interactive art-making experiences attendees can “ink their love” for our city.
2014 MidPoint Midway Venues:
ArtWorks CincyInk will be officially kicking off here. Postcards will prompt attendees to submit written reflections on Cincinnati. The postcards will be amassed and applied in the creation of a crowd-sourced poem. This poem will later be divided and permanently inked on 200+ participants as part of 2015’s Cincinnati Tattoo Project.
ArtWorks Inked Goods is selling temporary tattoos, posters, and postcards that celebrate Cincinnati love.
“SkateAble Track” and on-site screen-printing by Able Projects. Live professional and amateur skateboarding will be on demonstration using ink themed sculptural ramps. Attendees can also select a MidPoint-inspired design and watch it get screen printed on a t-shirt of their choice.
Erasure by nipnip is another poetry project, which provides a range of media for visitors to make their own poem from Cincinnati-centric words. Participants can take home their stamped blackout poetry creation as a memento.
Short-Order Poetry by Chase Public will co-create poems about personal connections to Cincinnati. Each visitor will receive a poem inspired by their own responses to various prompts and questions. They may take it with them or contribute it to CincyInk. It would then become the basis for one of Chase Public’s crowd-sourced poems to the Queen City. This work will be featured as part of an assembly of all of the poems collected throughout CincyInk.
Ink Our Icons by Amanda M. Crane invites people to help raise solidarity for Union Terminal and Music Hall by “inking” their memories of the landmarks on postcards.
Write It On Your Heart That Cincinnati Loves You Back will prompt visitors to design Cincinnati-inspired tattoos that will be “inked” on mannequins throughout MidPoint Music Festival. Attendees will encounter Matt Grote’s “GargantuHands” along the Midway, “inked” by artists.
FREE Happy Hour Concert presented by P&G
Friday, September 26, at 5 p.m. the band Real Estate performs a happy hour concert on the free Midway Music stage presented by P&G. The community is invited to enjoy this showcase by one of today’s most admired bands.
About ArtWorks CincyInk
This citywide celebration invites people from all walks of life to “ink their love” for Cincinnati via written words and poems. ArtWorks will collect these poetic contributions and display them online, in print, and even on wall installations for the public to share, explore and contemplate. From these written expressions, a poem will be crafted by Chase Public. This poem will serve as the centerpiece of another component of CincyInk called the Cincinnati Tattoo Project. This artistic endeavor invites individuals to permanently ink words and phrases from the poem on their bodies as an expression of love for Cincinnati. Originally created by Lexington-based artists Kurt Gohde and Kremena Todorova, the Cincinnati Tattoo Project is a variation on previous participatory tattoo projects that took place in Lexington, Kentucky and Boulder, Colorado. More than 200 people are expected to participate. The project will culminate at an event where participants reveal their tattoos, linking all of the participants together through imagery as well as words.
