Northside Tavern welcomes Detroit-Nashville band Deadstring Brothers to the stage with Nashville friends, The Smoking Flowers and Cincinnati's very own Bulletville!
It may be a surprise to hear the country rock sounds of Detroit's Deadstring Brothers coming from a city better known for loud rock and roll, but disillusionment can take many channels. Desolation, frustration and regret have always been present where great country music was played, and from its bombed-out inner city to its sterile suburbs, Detroit has its share.
A straight-up Country offshoot of acclaimed Roots/Americana band Magnolia Mountain, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bulletville performs original material from singer/songwriter Mark Utley, along with a wide variety of classic honky tonk Country.
"Kim and Scott Collins, The Smoking Flowers, carry on the torch where Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris left off in their day, delivering beautifully produced, sometimes moody, songs with knockout harmonies... and less traditional than your classic country-folk duo by bringing a punk-attitude and energy to their highly infectious songs. A marriage of song and voice that is uniquely their own." -AltCountry.NL Magazine
