Neighborhood Venues in Cincinnati: Schwartz’s Point

Schwartz’s Point, you have driven by it a thousand times. That triangular building right smack dab in the middle of the five way stop as you travel up Vine St on the corner of West McMicken. The Jazz club is, according to their website, “A longtime labor of love of Jazz pianist Ed Moss, who happens to live upstairs.” Ed is always at the keyboard and depending on the night is joined by the vocal styling of either Pam Ross or Kathy Wade. Every so often, you can catch my good friend, Katie Zee as well.

As soon as you walk in you will feel as if you have discovered gold. A Jazz sanctuary smack dab in the middle of our city. You walk in with the bar directly in front of you, whisper your drink order and grab a table in the front to get ready to witness Jazz as it was meant to be played. If you are a talker, there is a single “conversation table” in the back. During set breaks everyone mingles and by the end of the night it feels as if you may have discovered your own new family of music loving friends.

Schwartz's Point

On Friday and Saturday there is a $5 cover 9p – 12m.

Come on Tuesdays for the complimentary gourmet buffet included in your $10 cover at 7:30 with Ed Moss and The Society Jazz Orchestra joining you at 8:30.

Make sure you bring cash, as Barbie at the bar is not able to accept credit cards.

Attire is come as you are. This is a venue where you will feel comfortable in your usual attire as well as in black tie.

Schwartz's Point

Schwartz’s Point is an amazing Jazz club that does not promote themselves at all. There’s no need to honestly; after you have been there once you will curse yourself for not finding it sooner. The word of mouth that drove me there years ago was enough to get me there, and the experience once I arrived was what kept me coming back. Do yourself a favor and get there.
