MacReady U.K. is the result of a cross country collaboration between Jay Reynolds (Freekbass, The Cliftones) and Nick Barrows (Jetlab, Jack Burton Overdrive). Born out of a shared love of John Carpenter’s self-composed soundtracks, their first eponymous EP began as a series of digital sketches in Cincinnati, Ohio. These musical germs found a host in a small collection of vintage keyboards and drum machines in Austin, Texas, where they assimilated their new environment and began to grow. Now fully fleshed, these songs touch on the gamut of modernity. Alienation. Darkness. The Girl Next Door. And the great question of our time: who exactly is going bump in the night? MacReady U.K. doesn't pretend to answer these questions. In fact, they don’t even really ask them. Instead, they would like to provide a soundtrack to any number of apocalypses. Because if civilization is going to end like a mid-budget science fiction movie from the 80s, you might as well enjoy the soundtrack.
