Formed in the spring of 2013, Kicking Up Cinders is made up of Kaitlin Morrison and Andy Mclain, two independent songwriters enamored of Americana and traditional music. Heavily infulenced by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Mclain and Morrison built their sound around strong vocal harmonies paired with earnest and conversational narratives. Within a few weeks of rehearsals, Kicking Up Cinders began playing open mic nights around the city. In late 2013, Morrison released the CD "Hot Hum"

Recently Kicking Up Cinders performed at the Madison Theater as part of the 2013-2014 Band Challenge and are preparing to release a new EP.
