Red Meat started in San Francisco's Mission District in 1993. They're probably the best known and most accomplished honky tonk club band in California. They have 5 albums out, three of which were produced by Dave Alvin. The music is a hard honky tonk vibe in a Bakersfield barroom style. Additionally, Red Meat has headlined hundreds of their own shows nationally and in Europe, and have also been lucky enough to share the stage with their idols Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Alabama, Jerry Jeff Walker, Ralph Stanley, Del McCoury, the Derailers, Big Sandy, Deke Dickerson, the Hacienda Brothers, the Blasters, Dave Alvin, Joe Strummer, the Knitters...you get the picture, I think! They are also Wanda Jackson's backing band in the western states.
