Inspired by The Austin Psych Fest, held annually in Austin, Texas, and dedicated to the re- surging genre, Cincinnati Psych Fest aims to pair bands steeped in the sounds of 60's psychedelia, with those bending and melting the genre's barriers in a more modern approach. Organizers are hoping to make the festival an annual event.

The event's first year home, Mayday, will also be doing something different for the festival. For the first time ever, in addition to the regular indoor stage, Mayday will feature an outdoor stage perched upon the second floor deck. Playing times for the bands will be staggered throughout the evening to allow for maximum band viewing opportunities for the attendees.
