Walnut Hills Refugee Benefit Concert with CSO Concertmaster

On October 18 at 7:30 Walnut Hills High School's STAR (Students Together Assisting Refugees) will present a benefit chamber concert featuring Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Timothy Lees and other Principal musicians at the Walnut Hills High School library.  The purpose of the concert is to raise money for Cincinnati Public School refugee student scholarships.

STAR (Students Together Assisting Refugees) was founded at Walnut Hills High School in 2015 to raise aid and awareness about the refugee crisis. In the past year STAR presented a school assembly where refugees spoke, had a showing of a refugee-related movie and organized a donation drive of household items for 260 local refugee families. In addition, STAR members have volunteered as mentors and tutors for refugee children at the Academy of World Languages through Refugee Connect. STAR is currently expanding locally and nationally with students from other schools setting up STAR chapters so that they can help refugees in their own communities.
