Get Your Metal on Tonight at Backstage Cafe

Armageddon, Ascension, Corpuscide, and Dark Region are taking over the stage at Backstage Café tonight in Covington. Show starts at 7p, $13 DOS.

Armageddon first came to life in Sweden in 1997 as a studio project, with cult album "Crossing the Rubicon", a sci-fi themed concept album. Two more albums followed, Embrace the Mystery in 2000 and Three in 2003, both featuring different line-ups and different musical directions, Christopher Amott being the sole original member. Armageddon is now resurrected in its most powerful form. The band is based out of New York City, and has brought unto itself a crushing line-up of musicians. Together they have once again conjured up the force that is ARMAGEDDON.

Ascension is a power trio playing a highly original hybrid of classic arena/black/thrash metal styles. It was first formed by Caleb Bingham in 2004 while he was still in high school. As a result of passing around the band's early demos on the Sunset Strip he landed a gig with the then-forming Five Finger Death Punch in 2005. Upon being fired from the group in 2007 (due to his young age) he reformed Ascension a second time, recording several more unreleased demos and one EP at the behest of veteran Roadrunner Records A&R Monte Conner. Largely due to that label's merger with WMG, the band lost out on its chance to sign with them and was shelved yet again in 2010 while Bingham played a four-year stint with Swedish death metal act Zonaria. Upon parting ways with them due to a leg injury sustained while playing with the group he reformed Ascension a third time, recording its first full length release entitled "The Order of the Silver Compass" after signing a development deal with the recently formed label King's Throne Records.

Out of a rural, small town setting, Corpuscide rips out the guts of metal and assembles a new creature that is different in today’s world of heavy music. Corpuscide was formed by drummer Adam Cutter, guitarist Sam Eisert, and vocalist Kent “Kunt” Goldsmith in Batesville, Indiana in 2004. They immediately began writing songs that are best described with the band tagline; “a little death, a little stoner, a little thrash, all metal”, which is still accurate to this day. This is also when it was decided that no Corpuscide show will ever be boring. Every show demands that every member engages with the audience and put forth the best of what they each individually have. After a few different guys, the group decided to enlist Kirk Gibbons on the bass guitar.

Since then, Corpuscide has released their self-recorded/produced first full length album, entitled Something Has Happened To My Brain and has gone on their own HeadHunters tour completely booked and arranged DIY. That album is currently available through major music distributors for digital download. Recently the band has been filmed to appear in an A&E reality series and were interviewed for major Cincinnati rock radio station WEBN. Along with those recent accomplishments, Corpuscide has had the pleasure to share the stage with such bands as Deicide, The Black Dahlia Murder, God Forbid, Skeletonwitch, Goatwhore, and Powerman 5000.
