The Best Days of American Authors Life are Underway

By on  Comments

American Authors seem to really be having the best days of their lives. I last saw the band at the Bunbury VIP session in Cincinnati, OH for Bunbury Music Festival. It was a great set of hand clapping, dance your ass off greatness. Since then, the band has been touring consistently across the U.S. and Canada through late summer, kick off the release of OH, WHAT A LIFE, their debut album on Island Records (containing the hit single “Best Day Of My Life”), with back-to-back TV appearances on ABC’s Live with Kelly & Michael’s Oscar Special (March 3rd) and TBS’s Conan (March 4th). American Authors were recently selected for the highly influential VEVO LIFT emerging artists program, after being chosen as VH1's official “You Oughta Know” selection for February. They kept up the momentum with a return appearance on Live with Kelly & Michael (March 10th), followed NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers (March 12th). Then they were off to American Authors’ “SXSW Takeover” in Austin, Texas, for multiple performances.

American Authors bring their own influences and experiences to the table, creating pop-flavored alt rock sprinkled with four-part harmonies, spirited lyrics, and conta–gious optimism. The band is back in Cincinnati tonight and we jumped at the chance to chat prior to the show!

Since we saw you last year at Bunbury Music Festival, you guys have blown up! What has been some of your most memorable experiences thus far?
Definitely Bunbury was such an amazing experience for us. Some very memorable experiences for us were playing Leno just because it was our first National TV show and we were all so nervous. This headlining tour we are on now I will remember forever just because it wasn't so long ago we were playing for 40 people and now all the shows are sold out.

For those who have not seen American Authors perform, what can they expect?
People can definitely expect high energy and hopefully we can take you on a journey of music.  We give our all every night. We are just excited to share music and art with everyone.

Is there a significance in the name of your band?
The band name does have a lot of significance to us.  An author doesn't have to write a book it is someone who tells a story and we believe we tell our story thru our lyrics and music. The American part comes from the fact that we are from 4 different corners of america and pull different experiences and backgrounds from that. So this makes American Authors.

Now that you are headlining tours, how do you go about picking opening bands?
We pick bands we want to watch every night and people who seem like cool people.

Any advice for local musicians on how to make it?
My advice is there are many rivers that lead to the ocean so be creative, keep learning, and keep pushing forward it doesn't happen over night. The guys and I have been writing songs and playing shows together for 7 and a half years.

American Authors are set to hit the stage at the SOLD OUT show at 20th Century Theatre on Thursday April 3rd with Wild Cub and Oh Honey!
