Go Tell All Your Friends, Taking Back Sunday is Back on Tour

Taking Back Sunday is back in the recording studio and back on tour. The band has had some lineup changes over the years but I think they have it right back where it needs to be with Adam Lazzara, John Nolan, Eddie Reyes, Shaun Cooper and Mark O'Connell. Last year Taking Back Sunday embarked on a successful 10th anniversary Tell All Your Friends tour. They are back in the recording studio to be released in 2014 and are pregaming the album with a tour!

Back in the day a bunch of bands emerged from the “emo” scene and few have lasted. Taking Back Sunday is one of those few. They have gone through the growing pains all great bands do and I feel that we have seen greatness but the band have not even hit their fullest potential yet.

We sat down with John Nolan to talk about the new album and the future of Taking Back Sunday

How is the new album coming? Release date?
We do not have a release date yet but we are finished tracking the record and the next step is mixing then getting mastered, which will take a little bit. We will be playing a few songs from it on this tour along with some favorites.

I like the pairing of Polar Bear Club and Taking Back Sunday. How did that come about?
We’ve played some shows with them here and there. We liked their music, they submitted to play the tour and we wanted to take them out. Simple as that!

How have things changed within TBS since you rejoined the band?
The time that we spent apart doing different things did a lot for us. When we got back together we were able to appreciate each other more than we used to. We respect more what we all bring to the band and that the 5 of us together makes for something interesting and special. Plus being older and more mature has made for better relationships and a better working environment. We are better at handling conflict with each other.

What is next for TBS?
The plan is to release a DVD of a live performance of Tell All Your Friends. We just filmed the set in New Jersey about a month ago. It will be released in December. The new record will be coming out in the new year and we will follow it up by lots and lots of touring!

Any advice for new musicians?
I would say you should do things on your on your own. As you get going in music there are lots of people who will tell you what they think you should be doing and how to do it. It’s good to be open for advice but I think it’s more important to know what you want to do and stick to that.
