Kishi Bashi Set to WOW MidPoint Audience

Kishi Bashi has been wowing audiences with his violin-based live show where he uses looping to re-create complex avant-pop songs from his debut solo LP 151a.  His first headlining tour kicked off with two sold-out shows at Joe’s Pub in NYC.  After a tour of Japan during the holidays he’s back on the road in the U.S., selling out larger venues across the country.

Kishi Bashi will be playing MPMF at the CAC Friday at 11:30!

151a debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart last spring and continues to gain momentum after its release.  It's been hugely championed by NPR and made several of their year end lists, including being Bob Boilen’s Favorite New Artist of the Year, No. 6 on Robin Hilton’s Top Album of the Year, No. 29 on NPR Listeners’ Favorite Albums of 2012 and No. 12 on Paste Magazine’s 20 Best New Bands of 2012. Many more have chimed in as well, including SPINUnder The RadarBustCMJSelf-Titled and much love from the blogosphere.

Before his solo debut, Kishi Bashi performed and recorded with of Montreal, Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche among others.  He played strings on of Montreal’s latest album, Paralytic Stalks, and spent much of the first half of 2012 globetrotting with the band as a member and opener.

"such a huge, epic sound" and is "so celebratory you just want to run out into the streets."  - NPR All Songs Considered

Kishi Bashi is sure to blow your mind with his performance. Make sure to add it on to your must see list for MPMF.
