People’s Champs w/ DJ's NoahlMean and Eyes at The Comet tonight!

Brooklyn-based band People’s Champs featuring Cincinnati native JORSCAN are on tour for a Single Release Tour and are stopping at The Comet tonight. People's Champs will share the bill with hot local DJ's NoahlMean and Eyes. The band's highly anticipated single, "Humanity", just released on Tuesday, May 7th.

Mixing experimental rock and soul with African and Latin beats, People's Champs are quickly establishing themselves as one of Brooklyn's freshest new bands. With their "crazy ass genre mash ups", People's Champs rock 80s electro-accordion riffs, tasty neo-soul vocals and gritty drum grooves to create a sound that’s equal parts Fela Kuti, Michael Jackson, Tears for Fears and Ornette Coleman. Critics are calling People’s Champs “New York supergroup!” and “The new champions of globally influenced dance-rock!”.

Among many high-profile collaborations, its horn section, under the name The Superpower Horns, is the recording studio horn section of Beyoncé Knowles. They wrote and arranged the horns lines on Beyoncé's 2011 album '4', including GRAMMY Award winning song "Love On Top" and are currently working with her on a new record.  When asked about the horn section, Beyoncé recently gushed, “those guys are genius!”

People's Champs features Brooklyn-based Cincinnati native, Jordan Scannella, aka JORSCAN on bass and MC skills.  JORSCAN, a graduate of Cincinnati's School for Creative and Performing Arts and Berklee College of Music in Boston, has made a name for himself as one of the first call bass players in NYC, through international touring with Tortured Soul, to recording for filmmaker Ken Burns and Off Broadway productions.

Members of People's Champs perform internationally with artists including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Delicate Steve, Tortured Soul, Cuddle Magic, Railbird, The Pimps of Joytime, John Brown's Body, Slavic Soul Party!, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds and many others.
