Holly Williams brings country where it ought to be Thursday!

Holly Williams is an old country soul. She's obviously learned from the best, her famous and prolific father and grandfather – Hank Jr. and Sr., respectively. The Nashville-based singer/songwriter's s third album, The Highway, was released on her own imprint, Georgiana Records, and continues to garner to critical praise, with People Magazine naming it one of "The 10 Best Albums of 2013 (So Far)."

The Highway finds the 31-year-old artist putting a distinctly personal spin on universal themes like love, loss, conflict, family and desire, and is heavy with references to memories of simpler times and beloved relatives; ruminations on lives destroyed by addiction; our shared need to love and be loved; and an earnest longing for the road.

Holly wrote or co-wrote all 11 tracks, which she co-produced with Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars), and includes guest appearances from Jackson Browne, Jackob Dylan, Gwyneth Paltrow and Dierks Bentley.

In addition to her music, Holly carries a fondness for fashion and haute homemaking, passions she channels into H. Audrey, her Nashville women's boutique, and her lifestyle blog, The Afternoon Off.

I hate to be biased, but I am not a fan of “new country”. However Holly Williams is not an artist I would place in that category. Her music sounds exactly what I feel that country music ought to. I haven't fallen in love so fast with a woman country artist since I first discovered Trisha Yearwood back in...well let's just say a while ago.
