Bunbury Music Festival :: July 13-15

Postby IanBolender » 2/16/2012, 13:20

CINCINNATI (February 16, 2012) - The Bunbury Music Festival today announced its headliner acts for the inaugural event to be held July 13-15, 2012 along Cincinnati's riverfront, and they include Jane's Addiction, Weezer and Death Cab for Cutie.

Founded by veteran music and event promoter Bill Donabedian, Bunbury Music Festival will feature over 100 liver performances on six stages throughout Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove. The name of the event comes from an Oscar Wilde play, "The Importance of Being Ernest" and means "to have a made up excuse to get out of doing something boring."

Jane's Addiction will perform on Friday, July 13 (9:30 p.m.) with Weezer on Saturday, July 14 (9:30 p.m.) and Death Cab for Cutie on Sunday, July 15 (8:30 p.m.). A full schedule of performances will be released in March.

"The Bunbury Music Festival will feature the best of our local Indie bands with national and regional bands that fans may have seen at other great festivals and concert venues," said Donabedian, who launched MidPoint Music Festival and served as the managing director of Fountain Square for five years. "Fans should think of this as an authentic music experience."

The event will also include a Tech Trade Show featuring social media, gaming and technology-based products as well as an Eco-friendly Market Place with a variety of food and merchandise offerings.

Ticktes for the event are $46 for a one-day pass and $93 for a three-day pass and are on-sale at www.bunburyfestival.com/tickets.

Ya know, paying to submit doesn't even bug me that much, especially for a start-up event (happy to help, really) but the whole Sonicbids thing just makes me cringe.

I get that it's a revenue stream for these guys, and I'm cool with that, but it would be nice if you had the option of submitting directly to the festival, even at the same fee. Have had horrible experience with Sonicbids, spam, scammers, and when we finally cancelled it was almost impossible to do.

That aside, the festival sounds awesome and I look forward to seeing Jane's and the rest of the lineup!

Congratulations and thank you to Bill and everyone involved with Bunbury. This is exactly the kind of thing Cincinnati has been missing and Sawyer Point will be the perfect place to hold it. Can't wait for festival season to begin!

Agreed on the sonicbids tip. but it is not the only way to register...from the site:
If you use another online press kit provider, simply click the Pay Now button below, select method of payment (credit card or PayPal), and click the link ‘Enter the URL to your press kit here!’ IMPORTANT! Be sure your online press kit includes the following: bio, location, genre, three (3) original songs, photo, and contact info. Press reviews are also helpful.

definitely seems to indicate other online press possibilities.

and I heard a pretty sweet rumor the other day about major act negotiations....which definitely has me looking forward to the fest more.

nice lineup! Good job Steve and Ian! My prediction is that the Foxy Shazam set, will be one of the most memorable of the entire event. Its their hometown and their blowing up on a national level, so they will bring their A game for sure. Not to be missed.
