The Mad Frog?
As a local promoter and booking agent, a big flag is raised when I mention a venue and bands suddenly have group hair appointments or have promised the better halves that they'll go to a chick flick with them. Sorry, ladies. Joe + chick flicks = popcorn fights within 15 minutes. Now, I'm seeing this with the above mentioned venue. So what's the deal? I've been asked to fill the bill there, but 50 bands later, and the only 1 booked is one of my own clients.

do they have regular shows again? all I ever see advertised there are Gorilla Battles of the Bands and basement dance parties. an old band of mine used to play up there every couple of months, but it's been about four years since I was playing with those guys.

I too think that doing regular shows is a great idea.

I think if you were to visit the aforementioned venue, you would see why. It's a hole.

I always thought it was a decent room. Nice stage, good working PA, good soundguy, and room for a couple of hundred people. Better than a lot of places I've played around town. it just doesn't seem to bring the crowd or the bands it used to in its heyday. I don't get up to Clifton these days, so I guess I could be wrong.

That venue has a bad reputation of screwing bands, bad parking, and not advertising enough or at all!

The Mad Frog used to be a main contributor to the scene in town. I have had many great memories and wonderful shows. In the last few years, with rotating talent buyers that wasn't necessarily part of the overall scene, the place has went downhill. It will be very difficult finding a band that draws willing to perform there.
