Illinois- late 19th century- 1st she was Lurancy, then she was Mary, then she was Lurancy again...(well,she might've been someone else before this, but the records have been lost...) After this, there are possible sightings, instances where she may or may not have popped up... 1915: an unknown woman in a black dress & very large hat "singing like an angel on the bow" as the Lusitania went down. She was singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" 1925: a small woman with a midwestern accent bumps into Hadley Hemingway on a train in France. Later, a satchel containing several pieces of writing is found to be missing... 1943:a ghostly figure whispers something in Robert Oppenheimer's ear just as he wakes from an afternoon nap. 1953: a small blonde with a "mischievious look in her eye" answers an ad to model for Jackson Pollock. 1966: a rock-n-roll band in York, England called "the Lying Dogs" records a single featuring female vocals & a horribly out of tune guitar. The "A" side is "When I was You're Girl". The "B" side is "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". John Cale of the Velvet Underground purchases 3 of 8 sold. 1975: a woman by the name L.Vennum is arrested after evidence points to her in 6 or 7 cases involving "fires of unknown origin". She was picked up on the subway apparently on her way to audition for a possible spot in a "punk rock" band, Oddly enough there is no record of her case ever coming to trial. Chris Stein picks Debbie Harry as his new singer. 1986: Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue dreams about a petite blonde with a strange haircut & a piano. He wakes and writes "Home Sweet Home". After this, there is nothing verifiable...glimpses here & there, the mostly likely being "an apparition" seen "prowling the halls" of the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices in Minneapolis,MN & mysterious set of unexplained fires in Quebec City... until 2009 Cincinnati, Ohio...
