Sulla is the incarnation of purging the poison out of the system, dispersed into the world, to be filtered, broken down, synthesized, energized, and played loud for a cathartic experience. Sulla is high energy live, and constantly putting new material out into the world; if simply to create more than is consumed.
Our influences come together to make Sulla what it is, unique, experimental, loud, and rough, while polished, clean, and sweet. No one word can pinpoint exactly what Sulla does, are
Sulla is the incarnation of purging the poison out of the system, dispersed into the world, to be filtered, broken down, synthesized, energized, and played loud for a cathartic experience. Sulla is high energy live, and constantly putting new material out into the world; if simply to create more than is consumed.
Our influences come together to make Sulla what it is, unique, experimental, loud, and rough, while polished, clean, and sweet. No one word can pinpoint exactly what Sulla does, are they Alternative? Rock & Roll? Did you just hear a jazz lick over that guitar mimicking synth sounds from '78??? What the hell are those two guitarists doing?
Doug Bender and Jayson Goss reach dual six string equilibrium over Jimmy Brackmann's rolling and chugging bass, all while Jeff Hoffman's drums keep cadence to save the chaos which could erupt at any time. The 4 members that make Sulla so sonically delicious tend to spend more time flirting with the boundaries of popular alternative music, than following a conventional path. While having a sound all their own, there are familiar markers to remind you it can make sense at times. They simply let it flow, and it becomes the anthems like "Minds Like Machines" or "The Garden State" while testing the limits with songs like "Death March" and "21." And just when you think they have given up on the conventions of popular music, "Hypothalamus" reminds the listener that they are a modern band trying to tear at the rules a little without completely breaking them.
Sulla is Music For Your Third Ear.
