The band was founded in July, 2008 by Kenney Knipe. After graduating from high school, Kenney looked back and realized that the only people he had pursued metal with were poor musicians with juvenile attitudes. Desperate for a change, he posted an ad on Craigslist and quickly forgot about it. Later on that month, He was contacted by Kevin Brown. Kevin was already a music student at Miami University, and the two soon began talking seriously about creating a band. Their songwriting sessions were prolific. Soon, the duo asked Kevin's roommate, Andrew Ris, to add his eclectic taste in music and incredibly technical bass style to the band. On January 17th, 2009, Schallkrieg recruited Cincinnati Guitarist Tyson Hammock for the rhythm guitar position. In September of 2010, Kent Morales took over as the band's drummer. The former drummer of Ablick and Black TIe Affair has been playing drums for more than half his life, and brings a new level of technicality to the band.
Schallkrieg has shared the stage with bands such as Darkest Hour, Born of Osiris, The Human Abstract, As Blood Runs Black, In the Midst of Lions, and local favorites such as Scarangella, Lysergic, and Detrimental. Schallkrieg continues to play shows in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.
Schallkrieg proudly rocks out with the following brands: Shure, M-Audio, Apple, Monster, Mesa, Peavey, Schecter, ESP, Godin, Warwick, Pearl, Paiste, Zildjian, Sabian, Vicfirth, DW, Marhsall, and Randall.
The band draws influence from Dream Theater, Opeth, Lamb of God, In Flames, Kamelot, Symphony X, Protest the Hero and many more.
