Rooted in old school tradition and steeped in passion- Miss Lissa & Company specialize in delivering blues with dynamic power and genuine feeling. Originally founded in 2007 in Dayton, OH- this Company has been focused on producing blues music that either brings you to your feet or keeps you at the edge of your seat- all while staying true to the musical roots with their emphasis on tone and form. Melissa “Miss Lissa” Young’s soulful vocal emotion and stage presence combine with the double shot of irrepressible guitar of Eric Henry and his "Little Big Brother in the Blues"- the “Mighty” Casey Ott, along with “Big Joe” Edwards on Bass and Aaron “the Hammerhead” Hemmert on drums- this Company brings you an intense blues experience you will not forget!
This Company was originally built on a foundation that combines the powerful vocal stylings of Melissa Young with the irrepressible guitar wizardry of Eric Henry- both hailing from Xenia, Ohio. With this featured line-up, Miss Lissa & Company have performed at many notable venues large and small throughout the region- especially in Dayton’s own Historic Oregon District- but also such places as the Belterra Casino in Indiana, Southgate House in Kentucky, and the historic Murphy Theatre in Ohio. The Company has also been showcased in festivals all over the tri-state area including several times at the Cincinnati Blues Society's summer and winter Blues Festivals, the Smokin on the River Blues & BBQ Fest near Louisville, KY, the Canal-Winchester Blues Fest near Columbus, Ohio along with the Middletown Blues & Bikes Fest and the Michelob Dayton Blues Fest. They really have gotten down to business in Cincinnati- WINNING the 2011 Cincy Blues Challenge, and will compete at the 2012 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. With influences ranging from Big Mama Thornton and Muddy Waters to Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin to Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi- there is sure to be a flavor for every music taste on this menu... This Company has a vested interest in presenting a complete showcase of hot rockin’ blues- from swingin’ upbeat shuffles to down dirty funks to classic gutbucket blues... with some trademark originals thrown in for good measure!!
