House Of Whales

House Of Whales is an alternative hip-hop group based out of Chicago. Having already placed highly on CMJ’s radio charts across the US, the bands most recent release, a self-titled LP, is a clear departure from the band’s original sound. The album has received much critical acclaim, including an Independent Music Award nomination. Through the recording process, House Of Whales has unearthed a multi-faceted approach to the hip-hop genre. Their previous work, Tell No One (also nominated for an IMA), was released in 2012 under former band name, Treehouse.

Emcee Rico Sisney, bassist Mike Ruby and drummer Aunnoy Badruzzaman are poised to take over in a city whose hip-hop culture has been the topic of much discussion as of late, and is in dire need of unique, strikingly artistic blood. House Of Whales’ organic approach allows for a rare unity of music. Spoken word lyricism is combined with various musical stylings to produce a truly unique sound. Although the music is created in-house, House Of Whales does not forget the importance of artistic collaboration. The band’s recordings feature multiple artists from a variety of genres to compliment the fundamental trio. And it's that kind of openness to a wide palette, and that kind of dedication to otherworldly, precise execution that makes House Of Whales stand tall, and alone, in their field.
